Summary:
Across a long bridge from Eastpoint and a drive up to the tip of the island, it's easy to imagine being isolated on a private island when you visit this park.
There's plenty of beach area for everyone. In fact, its hard to imagine large crowds coming down US Hwy 98 to get to the island. Maybe that's why this area is sometimes refererred to as Florida's Forgotten Coast.
The camping area has excellent facilities and each campsite is semi-hidden in a wooded area of the park. There was a nice trail leading from the camping area that was populated by an amazing variety of birds.
The park has six large picnic shelters equipped with grills, tables, and restrooms. The campground features full facility campsites and a primitive campsite can be accessed by trail or by private boat.
But its best feature is its 9 miles of beach. With warm Gulf water making for an extended season, you're sure to enjoy your stay at this park.
